Chiyoko Noguchi, violin
Acknowledged for her deep musicality with energy and sensitivity, violinist Chiyoko Noguchi has appeared as a soloist, a chamber musician, and a concertmaster in countless venues Japan, the US, and Europe, including Carnegie Hall, and Alice Tully Hall in LincolnCenter, Tokyo Opera City among others. She won the Juilliard concerto competition,resulting in her legendary performance of Elgar Concerto in Alice Tully Hall with Juilliard Orchestra under the baton of Otto-Werner Mueller. Ms. Noguchi was also awarded the Young Artists Debut Award after winning the Artists International Audition and made her
notable Carnegie Weill Hall recital debut in 1994. After returning to Japan in 1994, she completed her studies at the Tokyo University of the Arts.
As an avid chamber musician, she has been invited as a guest violinist to many different groups and festivals as well as her regular string quartet.
Ms. Noguchi has been exceptionally passionate about giving premiere performances of contemporary works and is trusted by well-known living composers in Japan. She has also appeared at major music festivals and given premiere performances of numerous contemporary works.
Her new CD of Bartok Sonata with renowned pianist Akira Eguchi was highly acclaimed for her splendid performance.
As an educator, Ms. Noguchi continues to support up and coming generations of aspiringviolinists. She is consistently invited to give masterclasses at many prestigious music festivals and seminars. Her students have won prizes in Japan’s major competitions. She has also been invited to serve on the jury at several major music competitions in Japan.
Chiyoko Noguchi is currently a professor at Tokyo University of the Arts.
